THAILAND/BURMA REFUGEE CAMPS 2014
Page 5

Our next journey was a Bus trip to Chiang Mai, which was actually a nice and comfortable one. It was only about an hour and a half trip, and the Bus that we were on was very nice, by far much superior to many that we have ridden here in the past. The worse part was dragging around all of our suit cases (3 + 2 carry on, because we were able to put one empty suit case inside of one of the other large ones which made it much easier) When we arrived, we let the Taxi driver to the Hotel take care of them and then the Bell Boy at the Hotel, so getting them to the Bus was the worse part. It was somewhat funny when the Thai's picked up the suit cases, expressing difficulty and then laughing at how heavy that they were.

We met with the Karen pastor about the Bibles. Ah Gaw is a very nice person who speaks very good English. I had not realized that Betty has known this person for about 18 years. He has been a very good contact for her. He does a lot of traveling planting Karen churches and even several places that include the US. Since Thailand is a Buddhist country, it was refreshing to talk to another Christian for a change. He will pick up the 4 cases of Karen Language Bibles that we ordered from the Thai Bible League and deliver them to Mae Rah Moe refugee camp for us. Our church, Harvest, gifted us with enough money to purchase the Bibles. It is wonderful seeing God's word taught openly in the refugee camps.

We thank you all for your prayers for protection and good health while we were gone. I had only one episode of intestinal problem the entire time we were there, which is a first for me and speaks directly to God's hand being on us during our travels. Please be praying that God will touch the hearts of many people and dozens more children will be chosen for sponsorship.

In Christ Love,

Betty and Rick
