When I got up in the morning, I was really needing medical attention and knew I couldn’t take another 5.5 hour bus ride back to Lampang, so Po Po found another truck and driver and she agreed to go with us as interpreter. We picked up Rudy and he gave me some antibiotics he had with him and we headed out.
This was such an unusual trip for me. I have never spent so much time being a “tourist” in the 17 years I have been going over to Thailand. However, I made some contacts in other areas and I believe the Lord is expanding my ministry beyond just Mae Sot and Mae Sariang area.
So many families are being resettled in other countries that is is negatively impacting life in the camps. There is a tremendous “brain drain” happening and there is a lot of concern about the future of the Karen in Thailand/Burma. The schools in the camps are losing their teachers at an alarming rate. The head medic at our little jungle hospital has already been resettled in the U.S. I am praying about maybe taking a trip across the US in a couple years to visit all the areas where there is a large number of Karen resettled. Your continued prayers are always appreciated as our ministry adapts to the new face of the Karen.
